This year we hosted the first official squash tournament in Wairoa in over 15 years! Some of the best players near and far joined us for the 2025 Wairoa Open. Prizes were up for grabs and great squash was on display throughout the weekend, sharing meals and laughs while cheering on our friends.

I'm not a wairoa athletic sports club member, can i still enter?
Absolutely! The Wairoa Open is about bringing together squash players near and far, sharing the court and playing against new opponents. If you're not an Athletic member, simply click the button above if you're already graded, or email us.
Do i need to be able to play at a certain level in order to enter the wairoa open?
We're inviting players of all abilities to enter as the draw will cover all levels of squash. If you're relatively new to squash, this tournament is the perfect opportunity to get a taste of competitive squash against new opponents. Give it a go!
do i have to be graded in order to enter?
Yes, you can only play in the Wairoa Open once you're graded. But guess what? It's super easy! All we need is your full name, date of birth and an email address or phone number, and our team will sort the rest! Email us with those details to enter and get graded.
I don't play squash but i'd like to come and support the tournament. what can i expect?
We love to see your support and there will be lots do to throughout the weekend. Our two courts will showcase great squash continuously, the bar will be open for refreshments, there will be raffles and our shop will be open for you to browse through our awesome club kit. The clubrooms will be buzzing with excitement!
I live out of town but plan on entering the Wairoa open. what are my options for accommodation?

how much is the entry fee for the wairoa open?
The entry fee for the Wairoa Open is $40 per person. The fee is required to be paid in full on the first day of the tournament (EFTPOS will be available at the bar).
I'm a wairoa athletic member, do i still have to pay the entry fee?
Yes, the entry fee applies to everyone playing the Wairoa Open and is not covered by your existing Athletic membership.
Yay, i've entered! What do i need to bring?
Awesome, great to have you! The tournament will span across 3 days. The final draw will be announced closer to the time but you can expect to play at least two games during the weekend. We recommend you bring the following for the best Wairoa Open experience:
- non-marking court shoes
- squash racquet
- comfortable playing kit
- reusable (water) bottle

How do I enter for the wairoa open?
Entries for the Wairoa Open are processed through MySquash. If you're already graded and have played in a tournament before, you'll know the drill. Click here to enter, login to your MySquash account and complete your entry. Is this your first time entering a squash tournament? Just email us with your full name, date of birth and an email address or phone number, and we can assist you! Entries close Friday 7 March!
